NOVEMBER 2008 NEWSLETTER
Happy Thanksgiving! Next month we will begin announcing our plans for our annual studio wide performances, Showcase of the Starz 2009! STARZ WILL CLOSE FOR THANKSGIVING BREAK FROM NOV. 26-30th!
Holiday Charity Project: PLEASE HELP!
Every year Starz adopts a charity project that our studio families are encouraged to participate in. In previous years we have donated hair to locks of love, created “shoe box” gift packs, and donated to Toy’s for Tots. Starz is coordinating a “Blanket” Challenge charity this year. There is no sewing involved in making these blankets, which will be donated to area shelters. The student who donates the most will be awarded a prize. You will need to purchase fleece fabric, a minimum of 2 yards is needed. This can be 2-yds same or 1 yard each primary and coordinating fabrics. A sheet of directions is now available at the front desk. Blankets need to be completed and brought in to Starz by December 15th. Lightly used blankets and baby blankets also acceptable but must be freshly washed and wrapped up ready to disburse. Thank you for helping!
Showcase of the Starz 2009: $30 PER CLASS, COSTUME DEPOSITS DUE 12/11/08
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SHOWCASE DATES: MAY 28TH 31ST 2009!
- We have some wonderful ideas for this year’s shows, and are anxious to get started! We are currently putting together all our plans. Each class will perform 1 routine for the Showcase. We will announce our theme and costume decisions when we return from Thanksgiving. This year’s events will be divided into three Acts with performances on Friday & Sunday only. More info TBA.
-Showcase 2009 Costumes will be approximately $60.00 or less each and include one pair of tights. A $30.00 costume deposit will be due no later than December 11th, 2008. COSTUME DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE!
-We will begin working on routines in January. Our teachers plan their routines and choreography based on the students who are enrolled at that time. When a student drops out of class, or changes classes it makes it very difficult for the remaining students to adapt to the changes in choreography. ALL students are required to participate in the Showcase performance held May 28-31ST, 2009. If you cannot participate please notify us immediately. Thank you for your cooperation.
Snow Day’s & Class Cancellation Policies:
-Starz follows the Oak Grove school district with regards to MOST MAJOR holiday closings and for INCLEMENT WEATHER dates. We do NOT close in conjunction with teacher workdays or other similar closings. Closings for holidays will be specifically announced in monthly newsletters. This information is also posted on our website under the newsletter tab: www.starzdancestudio.com
-If school is closed or dismissed early due to WEATHER, Starz will also be closed. When in doubt, call the studio at 690-7771 to confirm. Any closings will be put on our answering machine one-hour prior to the scheduled class time.
-Starz does not refund money or credit accounts due to holiday or snow closings. In most cases, these closings are made up by a 5-week month at some other point in our year. However, all students are welcome to make up absences of any kind, with any other class offered at Starz. Our class schedule is posted on our website under the classes tab, or you may stop by the front desk for an updated schedule.
Another Star being born
-HOORAY MISS KELLY AND BABY!! Miss Kelly and husband Shane are expecting their baby boy sometime in mid-December. If you’d like to wish them well, or were considering giving them a gift, we’ll be holding a diaper party on Sunday evening November 23rd at 6:30pm at Starz. All are welcome! Thanks for your consideration!
Shoe & Other:
-Our next two shoe & dance bag orders will be placed on November 13th and December 11th.
-Need a babysitter?? Our assistant teachers make wonderful caretakers! Feel free to approach them personally or stop by the desk for additional contact information.
