STARZ STUDIO OF PERFORMING ARTS

STARZ WILL BE OPEN FOR CLASSES ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 20th, PRESIDENTS DAY.
Showcase of the Starz 2012 - “Once Upon a Wonderland”
May 31 – June 3rd, 2012 - William Chrisman H.S. (In Independence)
Act I - Thurs. May 31st, 6:30pm dress rehearsal AND Fri. June 1st 6:30pm Performance
Act II - Sat. June 2nd, 1:30 dress rehearsal AND Sun. June 3rd, 1:30pm Performance.
Act III - Sat. June 2nd, 5:30pm dress rehearsal AND Sun. June 3rd 5:30pm Performance

SHOWCASE COSTUME BALANCES DUE: BALANCES DUE BY 2/9/12!!
-A $10.00 late fee will be assessed for payments received after February 9th. A display of all costume selections is posted in the studio lobby. We will disburse costumes during April’s watch week. Those students who made your costume deposits after December 8th may not get your costumes until later.
-You will receive one pair of tights to wear with your costumes. You must wear the exact type and color of tights we disburse, so that the color matches. We suggest you purchase a back up pair, just in case. Please be sure you also have the correct type, and color of shoes needed for each of your routines, as well as ELASTIC IN CHILDREN’S TAP SHOES!
-PLEASE be sure to notify our desk staff immediately if you decide to change, or drop any classes.
Any changes in enrollment require extensive updates to our costume orders and needs to be handled as promptly as possible.
SHOWCASE FATHER DAUGHTER ROUTINES: SIGN UP BEGINNING SAT. MARCH 3rd 9-10:30AM.
-Our Father Daughter routines are a highlight of our Showcase Performances. These are lighthearted, fun and very simple character routines in which our students have an opportunity to dance with the man in their lives (uncles, grandfathers, friends etc. will work too!). This is a terrific opportunity for Dad’s to make some memories with their child! Tentative rehearsals dates are April 28th, May 5th (pictures), & May 19th
-Rehearsals are mandatory. Participation is open to all students, only one child per “dad” please. Dads with more than one child should sign up for a separate routine with each child. Come join the fun!!
-Sign up is limited to 140 couples and is on a first come, first serve basis. Please note, we have had NO problems getting everyone who desires to participate in this event registered for the last several years. Registration will continue during our regular business hours throughout the month of March. There is a one-time $8.00 fee per couple to participate. This fee is non-refundable and due at sign up’s.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: SIGN UP BEGINNING SAT. MARCH 3rd 9-10:30AM.
The sign up sheet for our Showcase back stage volunteers will be posted on Saturday, March 3rd 9-10:30am. Sign up’s will continue during normal business hours after this initial date. Back stage volunteers help with costume details, supervise back stage, and help organize line up’s. They must be available to be back stage during the ENTIRE event of either dress rehearsal OR the performances, AND attend a mandatory meeting with ticket sales to be held on Friday, April 27th at 6:30pm. The children of our Volunteers will receive their costumes early and will serve as costume models for our classes. Volunteers also receive two free tickets to the Showcase, are allowed to purchase additional tickets prior to general sales, and get a free t-shirt. We appreciate your help SO much!
Starz “Spirit” Apparel – Last chance to order!
Our spirit apparel is on display in the lobby. These items can all be personalized with your child’s name and are a great way to show your support! Our final order for the year are due in on Feb. 15th, which approx. mid-March disbursal. Just in time for competitions and before Showcase. See the front desk to order.
PIYO fitness classes:
Miss Kelly recently received her certification in Piyo (Pilates & Yoga together) and is hoping to start an adult class in mid February. It would be a 6-8 week session with day/time tba. Please see the front desk to register your interest and we will be in touch with details as soon as they’re firmed up.
OTHER NOTES:
-Troupe B competition fees are due 2/19/12. Please faithfully watch your emails for additional competition details!
-Our next shoe order will be placed on March 8th. Please make sure your child has the correct shoes they will need for Showcase.
-Remember, Starz closes in conjunction with the Oak Grove R-6 schools for most snow days. Please call if you’re uncertain.
-Starz has now stopped enrolling; we will begin accepting new enrollee’s for summer session enrollment in late May.
-Please remember our dress code. Solid colored leotards only! Hair styled up and away from face. Thank you!
-Would you like a copy of your child’s Showcase music? Please enclose $3 in an envelope with your child’s name and class time on it and turn it in at the front desk. CD copies will be posted on the bulletin board near the restrooms for you to pick up as they’re completed. The vocal class music will not be available until April.
